The International Folk Dance Association of University City (St. Louis) will be hosting a weekend of dance workshops by Michael Ginsburg on FEBRUARY 18-20, 2011.

Michael Ginsburg started dancing during childhood, and he has made several research trips to Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, and Macedonia. He has taught on four continents, and he is known for his energetic and accessible presentation of authentic styling. Besides teaching folk dance, he is the director of the internationally known Balkan brass band Zlatne Uste in New York City.

Macedonia is an area that demonstrates some of the most diverse styles of dancing found in the Balkans. The area now covers the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, northern Greece, and southeastern Bulgaria; occupied by Slavs, Greeks, Albanians, Roma and several other groups.

The weekend begins at 7:30 P. M. (Friday) February 18 and concludes on Sunday after a workshop and review of dances from 1:00-3:00 P. M.
